Food and Nutrition

We are dedicated to addressing food insecurity for homebound seniors and other vulnerable neighbors. We provide food and pantry items to those in need, including thousands of nutritious meals prepared in our onsite kitchen each week.

“The hardest part about being a senior citizen is worrying about the cost of living. We have a luncheon and a breakfast that are affordable, and for a lot of us, that’s our main meal.”
– Jessie

Nutrition Outreach and Education Program

SNAP Helps New Yorkers Buy Food: The Nutrition Outreach and Education Program (NOEP) offers eligibility screening, referral and application assistance for SNAP. This service is free and open to all Manhattan residents. No Center membership is required. Contact Samuel Gaedke sgaedke@isaacscenter.org or 212.360.7620 x1114.

Meals on Wheels

As the lead Meals on Wheels contractor for the East Side of Manhattan from 59th Street to 142nd Street, we deliver seven meals a week to homebound seniors in direct collaboration with partner agencies, including the Carter Burden Center, Union Settlement Association and Roosevelt Island Senior Center.

Soup’s Up

This program, staffed by young adult graduates of our culinary arts training program, supplies healthy, home-delivered meal kits, containing ingredients and recipes for the production of six soups, stews, and side dishes, to food-insecure children, youth, families, and older adults.

Congregate Meals

Seniors enjoy affordable, nutritious meals together in our senior center.

“My sweetie said, ‘I have a place that’s under $2 for lunch. I’ll tell you about the place, so you have to pay for my lunch.”

– Mark, who’s been treating his sweetie to lunch at the Isaacs Center ever since.
